Program Overview

Lafayette House, a CARF-accredited organization, offers a structured, multi-tiered internship program designed to provide comprehensive practical experience in social services, mental health, and organizational operations. As a CARF-accredited facility, we maintain the highest standards of service delivery and organizational excellence, ensuring our interns receive training that aligns with internationally recognized best practices.

Our CARF accreditation demonstrates our commitment to Quality Service Delivery; Continuous Improvement; Person-Centered Approach; and Evidence-Based Practices. This accreditation ensures that our interns receive training in an environment that prioritizes excellence and continuous improvement while focusing on meaningful outcomes for both clients and developing professionals.

Program Structure

Bachelor Level (Development Track)

  • Duration: 16-20 weeks per semester

  • Time Commitment: 25-30 hours weekly

  • Primary Focus Areas:

  • Direct client services under

  • supervision

  • Case management

  • Group facilitation assistance

  • Program support activities

  • Crisis intervention support

Learning Outcomes

  • Application of theoretical frameworks to practice

  • Development of clinical documentation skills

  • Understanding of treatment planning

  • Crisis intervention skills development

Master Level (Advanced Practice Track)

  • Duration: 16-20 weeks per semester

  • Time Commitment: 25-30 hours weekly

  • Clinical assessment and intervention

  • Treatment planning and implementation

  • Research and evaluation projects

  • Advanced case management

Specialization Track

Clinical Services

Available for Bachelor and Master level interns in:

  • Social Work

  • Mental Health Counseling

  • Substance Abuse Treatment

  • Psychology

  • Other related field

Supervision and Support Structure

Individual Supervision

  • Weekly one-hour sessions with assigned supervisor

  • Regular case review and skill development

  • Professional development planning

  • Documentation review and feedback

Group Supervision

  • Bi-weekly two-hour group sessions

  • Peer learning opportunities

  • Case presentations

Educational Enhancement

Program Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • Current enrollment in an accredited academic program

  • Have completed their freshman/sophomore year of college before the internship begins.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Successful background check

  • Will have your own reliable transportation arrangements to ensure consistent attendance to internship

  • Completion of agency orientation

Documentation Requirements

  • Learning agreement signed by academic institution

  • Weekly activity logs

  • Monthly progress reports

  • Case presentations

  • Project completion reports
