Treatment Court
What is Treatment Court?

Treatment Court, also known as Drug Court, is a specialized court program that allows individuals to enter long-term drug treatment with court supervision rather than receive a prison sentence. Completion of the program can result in dismissal of the participant’s criminal offenses. However, if the program is not completed, the participant’s case is processed through the traditional justice system.
Participants are accepted into Treatment Court on a referral/application basis. During the 13+ month program, participants will be required to complete regular and random drug testing, attend treatment, meet with their probation officer, appear in court, complete volunteer hours, and more. The frequency/length of all the previously mentioned requirements varies based on multiple factors.
The Treatment Court Program takes a holistic approach to address all aspects of recovery and the barriers to recovery, such as housing, employment, support system, education, and routine. It is different from the traditional justice system in that your Treatment Court Team is there to support participants and their recovery. The whole team is there to provide tools to help participants change their lives, they want to see you succeed.
Benefits of Treatment Court
Treatment Court has shown to lower crime and recidivism rates, improve treatment outcomes, reduce overdose deaths, increase employment and productivity, and save taxpayer money by avoiding the high cost of sending an individual to prison. Treatment Court is an empowering program that helps participants identify their strengths, build community and routine, and connect them with resources to strengthen their recovery.
